K-Tip Extension Care Guide

K-tip (keratin bond) extensions are designed to mimic the natural movement of your hair while offering a fully customized, long-lasting result.

Because each bond is individually attached, your care routine is slightly different from other extension methods. Following these guidelines will help maintain the integrity of your bonds, extend the life of your hair, and keep your natural hair healthy.

Daily Care

Consistency is key when it comes to keeping your extensions smooth, tangle-free, and comfortable.

  • Brush your hair morning and night using a professional extension brush

  • Separate bonds gently with your fingers if needed

  • Detangle from ends → mid-lengths → then roots

  • Keep hair secured in a loose braid or ponytail while sleeping

  • Never sleep with wet or damp hair

Washing & Drying

Proper washing makes a significant difference in both longevity and comfort.

  • Wash 2–3 times per week (or as needed for your scalp)

  • Gently cleanse the scalp without aggressively scrubbing

  • Avoid conditioner, oils, or masks near the bonds

  • Condition mid-lengths to ends only

  • Rinse thoroughly to prevent buildup around bonds

  • Gently squeeze out excess water after washing

  • Ensure bonds are fully dried

  • Avoid letting bonds stay damp for extended periods

Heat Styling

K-tip hair is usable for a limited time, so protecting it from excessive heat will help maintain its quality.

  • Always use a heat protectant

  • Avoid direct heat on the keratin bonds

  • Be mindful when using tools near the root area

What's Normal?

As your extensions settle in, a few things are completely expected:

  • Slight awareness of the bonds, especially when first installed

  • Light shedding of extension hair over time

  • Bonds softening slightly with wear

  • With wear you will notice some bonds shed over time, this is normal with your natural hair growth cycle

Maintenance & Longevity

K-tip extensions do not require move-ups, but they do require timely replacement.

Typical lifespan: 3–5 months (varies by hair type and at-home care)

As your natural hair grows, the bonds will move down and should be removed before they become too grown out.

Waiting too long can lead to:

  • Tangling at the root

  • Matting between bonds

  • Unnecessary stress on your natural hair

How to Prepare for Your Removal / Reinstall Appointment
